***Wedding Fever***

I find it very interesting that society is totally okay with you meeting this guy or girl and saying you want to spend the rest of your life with them! This strange union is called marriage (possibly another of life's many scams), but the idea works! The whole situation got me pensive someday when I thought of how people move from one continent to another because they are in love. Don't get me wrong, I'm not against it. It's just a little...a little... weird (at least from this perspective!)

So Nigeria was like a wedding ground this Christmas. I mean, one hundred weddings every weekend (not that I attended them all) or one Introduction or the other... Actually my aunty had one at my house and WHAT CAN I SAY???!!! It was L-I-V-E! As in, the marriage proposal was a golden scroll (neat eh?) And you pretty much had to make it rain on the drummers every time they hit that talking drum. Then there was the MC that just had a sugar-coated tongue. Like she could make you spray yourself by accident! lol And there was the food. Hmm, Yoruba people don't play. People from Ibadan wanted their amala and those from Ekiti wanted their own food. It was worth it in the end though!

Then my cousin also got married. *Very emotional moment for me here*...She was the 1st child in our generation to get married. It was happiness all the way! (*cough cough* Pix on Facebook)... And so much talk about weddings this holiday, it was crazy!

Meanwhile, my new wedding icon is Grace Ormonde. She is the Editor-In-Chief of Wedding Style magazine. Gracious! This mag will make you want to get married! lol Apart from the lush and heavenly settings and the REALLY good-looking men, some bridal styles got my attention. I thought they were very innovative and outside-the-boxish, lol...

1. Victorio and Lucchino - What can I say... Amazing Veil!
2. Raimon Bundo- Pure art. Who says your dress must be all white?
3. Manuel Mota for Pronovias- *chants Haaalleluyah!*

Now question, what colours do you intend to wear to your wedding?

I want to wear a bright green dress.lol. Sorry David, but I would love to go off topic here. Nigerians love the idea of being married but only a few maintain their marriages. Most of my friends at home all dream of becoming wives before the end of 08. What hurts me the most about this is that they give me flimsy reasons. I have no choice than to think that the whole idea of getting married is a trend.

For real??? lollll I get what you mean by the marriage is a trend thing...

Emm, bright green??? I'm for it baby!!! lolll For real, we need to break those 'ideal' wedding ideas. Besides the purpose of wearing white has been trivialized so why not go all out????

the whole idea of making a fashion statement at your wedding scares me. I just want mine to be as timeless as possible. I dont want to have to explain to my grand kids why i had mona lisa on my butt on my wedding day! but hey, different strokes for all them folks.

David, I want to wear anything that'd make me look smashing...Of course decided by you, personally.

@ Anon: You know I live for timelessness. Fads don't matter as much (as far as I am concerned). But I can tell you one thing though, individuality constitutes timelessness. Wearing something on your wedding day that is original and true to your person to the very last bit, is timeless. On the other hand, wearing something very trendy or fickle is something I would consider 'not timeless'. I think your wedding should be really about who you are, so why not the dress? Also, it's very important that we do not mistake conventional for timeless.
And that's why I get what you mean, different strokes for different folks.

@ Anu: Aww, DAV!D is gonna dress you up that day to the very last detail. You will be tagged from that day onward as EXTREMELY DIVINE GORGEOUSNESS, SARTORIAL ELEGANCE AND RADIANT BEAUTY. That's really what DAVID is gonna do for you!

Man, you can say that again. As in wedding season this christmas put alot of pressure on me. Not really from my parents per say but from my aunts and uncles and even my peers. I was even given a two year limit by one of my aunt's by 25 you must be married!! I couldn't help but think to myself is it by force...ah? anyway wedding dress color, can i get engaged first, lol. but i think i'd go with the traditional white or a nice cream for the church wedding, i'm a classic babe. and for the traditional a banging lace matched with the essential Urhobo beads...

as for anonymous with the bright green dress. I don't know Kelis couldn't even pull off green in my opinion, and she is stylish!...

I want to wear gold, creme, beige...or whatever flatters my brown skin. And it doesn't even have to be royal. As far as it's something pretty, simple & elegant...I'll rock it! That's if I ever get married.

i want to wear cream with a light gold shimmer to it, the top half of the dress wud have the deepest hues and the lower it gets the lighter...like a rose
@ anonymous how trendy is marriage that people would be getting divorced by the second? trends don't last and marriage was instituted and meant to last for LIFE...so in essence its better to make a mature and informed decision to settle down and stay put otherwise it's no use!

I saw this in a magazine a white dress with red along the bottom and lining the top of the boob tube with little roses and designs in red all around the dress... i wanted to get married right away.
I think its a new design and you can use any color you want (usually d color for the theme of ur wedding). The red lady had red brides maids and the one with blue instead had blue brides maids etc.
P.S great work DAVID...,truly ingenious.
